JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of our studio team at our own studio, you’ll be working on assisting alterations and repairs of items from high-end luxury to the everyday customer pieces.

As a studio assistant in the SOJO studio you’ll be helping our experienced tailors with a range of preparatory and finishing tasks such as; unpicking, garment prepping, pressing and ironing. You’ll learn a lot about garment construction, materials, tailoring and much more. In addition to this, you will be able to learn wider skills as part of our culture of continuous improvement. Every day across our team we have 30minutes to make improvements to your tasks and processes. This time gives you an opportunity to use your creativity and ingenuity to make changes to improve the quality, simplicity and speed.

Part-time, term-based contracts and full-time employment options.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of garments and fabrics
  • Experience in a fashion environment
  • Wishing to learn from experienced tailors

LOOKING FOR

We don’t expect you to have everything in this list, but if you have some of these skills as well as the core competencies, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Knowledge of garment alterations and/or repairs
  • Knowledge of various fabrics, material properties and clothing construction
  • Knowledge of pattern cutting, hand sewing and garment decoration
  • Experience in hand sewing and finishing, including the final decoration such as attaching buttons and labels
  • Experience working in an operational role

ABOUT YOU

  • You love to problem solve and collaborate with others to come up with effective solution
  • You ask questions when unsure and provide insights to any challenges you face
  • Good written and spoken English skills
